Due to the sudden passing of our beloved Elementary Principal, Miss Blum, Dr. Schott will be stepping in as acting principal until the position is filled. McDowell Vaccination Clinic

A celebration of life will be held for Teresa Kay Blum on Saturday, Nov. 20 in the Highland High School gym at 3 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. at Coffman Funeral Home. Masks are required. The family will receive friends before the service on Saturday and after the service on Sunday. Teresa’s favorite color was yellow, so attendees are encouraged to wear yellow or a bright color to the services.
Christmas Coat Drive!
Highland County's Department of EMS and Highland County Public Schools have partnered to put together a Highland County Christmas Coat Drive! Going on now through December 17, 2021.
Please help us spread the word and donate a new or gently used coat for a child in Highland County this Christmas. You can drop coats off at the School Board Office or the County EMS Building (old car wash).
If you know of a family in need of coats, please let us know by calling Tabitha at (540) 468-6300.
Monetary donations will also be accepted to purchase coats for children in need.

We are honoring Ms. Blum by wearing yellow on Tuesday, November 16th and Friday November 19th.
The Elementary Showcase
Today has been a difficult day for everyone at HCPS but filled with wonderful memories of Ms. Blum.
Highland County Public Schools has cancelled school for Monday, November 15, 2021 due to the unexpected passing of our Elementary Principal, Teresa Blum. Faculty please report in at 10am.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Elementary Principal, Ms.Teresa Blum. Ms. Blum dedicated over 40 years of service to Highland County Public Schools. She loved helping the children of Highland and will be greatly missed.
We thank all parents and students for comments regarding chocolate milk. With this large response we have canceled our white milk only trial. Highland Schools will continue to serve chocolate milk in the cafeteria.
During our review of our Health and Wellness Policy, our parent representative brought up that parents are concerned about the sugar content in our chocolate milk. To address the concern Highland Schools will be serving only white milk starting the week of November 16th . This is on a trial basis.
