Today has been a difficult day for everyone at HCPS but filled with wonderful memories of Ms. Blum.
Highland County Public Schools has cancelled school for Monday, November 15, 2021 due to the unexpected passing of our Elementary Principal, Teresa Blum. Faculty please report in at 10am.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved Elementary Principal, Ms.Teresa Blum. Ms. Blum dedicated over 40 years of service to Highland County Public Schools. She loved helping the children of Highland and will be greatly missed.
We thank all parents and students for comments regarding chocolate milk. With this large response we have canceled our white milk only trial. Highland Schools will continue to serve chocolate milk in the cafeteria.
During our review of our Health and Wellness Policy, our parent representative brought up that parents are concerned about the sugar content in our chocolate milk. To address the concern Highland Schools will be serving only white milk starting the week of November 16th . This is on a trial basis. If you have concerns, please contact Lisa Jamison at (540) 468-6364.
Today the Highland Mid Kids Radio Club cut off six inches of Scott Smith's beard! General Manager Scott agreed to cut off an inch for every $5,000 Alleghany Mountain Radio raised.

The 6th grade class traveled to Elkhorn Lake with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation guides on October 20, 2021. We tested the water quality of the lake, learned canoeing techniques, discussed pollution, seined in the river, and enjoyed the beautiful colors of the fall. We are happy to report that Elkhorn Lake has excellent water quality!
Mr. Dan and Emory Brooks Foster made an appearance in Kindergarten as Zero the Hero!
