Dear Parents, Teachers, Students, Staff, Administration, and Community,
Thank you so very much for making our Spring 2022 Book Fair a huge success. Several books were donated to classroom libraries, students at HES have new books in their hands to read, and several students won posters and books in contests and drawings. Thanks also to Dr. Gary Pillow for bringing his new book Roonerspisms to our fair and giving his time to sign copies. It made my heart sing to see and feel the excitement the Book Fair generated from both students and adults alike. It couldn't have been done without the help of each and every one of you! THANK YOU for your support! ❤

On March 28th, Mrs. Springer had the final interview with Project Stem as part of the Amazon Engineer Grant. We were one of the schools chosen to receive the grant from Amazon that will give us access to middle and high school coding courses to help advance our students in the ever growing field of computer science. The field of computer science careers is projected to grow 13 percent within the next 10 years. Currently there are not enough people to fill these positions. This grant is going to provide a great opportunity to our students and community.
In the upcoming 2022- 2023 school year, Mrs. Springer will be offering a high school course on Programming using Python to our 10th - 12th grade students as well as integrating computer science to the 6th and 7th grade during their science class. The 8th grade course will be available in the following school year.
