MONTEREY — Highland Elementary School students recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of Winnie-the-Pooh, marking a century since the beloved bear first appeared in A.A. Milne’s original book, Winnie-the-Pooh, published in 1926.
On Oct. 14, students took part in a Pooh-themed celebration featuring stories, activities and plenty of opportunities to share with friends. Activities included tasting apple butter and honey to decide which they preferred, creating a special Pooh-inspired snack and enjoying a picnic together.
Students were encouraged to bring their favorite Winnie-the-Pooh characters, including Pooh Bear, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit and Owl, as they joined in the festivities.
The celebration highlighted friendship, imagination and the lasting appeal of one of the world’s most beloved storybook characters.
