MONTEREY — Kindergarten students had a night to shine at Highland Elementary School recently. Families gathered for a picnic dinner before enjoying a performance by the children.
In celebration of our nation’s 250th anniversary, the students recited selections from “The Flag We Love,” by Judi Harris and sang several beloved American songs. The program also featured students portraying historical figures from Standards of Learning studies, bringing history to life for the audience.
The evening included a retelling of the classic tale “The Three Billy Goats Gruff,” followed by a fun and humorous twist with “The Three Silly Girls Grubb,” by John and Ann Hassett.
“The children did an amazing job showcasing their learning, confidence, and creativity,” read a statement released to The Recorder this week. “Thank you to all the families who attended and supported this special event. It was a memorable evening filled with smiles, laughter, and pride in all our young learners.”
