MONTEREY — The Highland boys took full advantage of a chance to get even last Thursday.
The Rams, who had lost at Craig County by 13 in mid-January, got a game-high 30 points from Zach Armstrong on Senior Night, in a 62-36 Pioneer District victory over the Rockets.
The hosts led 39-31 after three quarters, but poured it on in the fourth, outscoring their guests 23-5.
Armstrong added 11 rebounds, five steals and five assists to his big scoring night, while fellow seniors Patton Hull and Elijah Good contributed double-doubles.
Hull coupled 12 points with 11 rebounds and two assists, with Good totaling 11 points, 14 rebounds and four assists.
Armstrong, Hull and Good, all seniors, were joined by classmate Matthew Wigal in being honored before the game.
Tristan Dooley scored 16 points for Craig County and Marcus Donithan added 12.
The Rams traveled to Parry McCluer on Monday and lost a 70-31 decision to the Fighting Blues.
Parry McCluer, ranked third in the latest Class 1 state coaches’ poll, led just 10-6 after one quarter, but pulled away over the final three.
With finesse and determination, Zach Armstrong glides to the hoop, sinking two points for the Rams against Craig County.
All-state junior Langston Cook had a game-high 31 points for the Blues, Jamier Jordan added 14 and Nathan Glass scored 10.
Armstrong scored 19 points, snagged 11 rebounds and handed out four assists for Highland, while Good scored eight points and Levi Warner had seven boards.
Highland is 3-5 in the Pioneer District and 10-7 overall with two regular season games left to play.
The Rams traveled to Narrows on Wednesday and go to Eastern Montgomery tonight. The Pioneer District tournament is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday.
