MONTEREY β€” Highland picked up a pair of boys’ basketball victories last week, winning in Staunton against VSDB, 47-27, last Wednesday and at home over Paw Paw, W.Va., on Saturday, 60-52.

The Rams coasted past the Defenders, surging to a 23-11 lead at the half.

Patton Hull scored 19 points and had six rebounds and six steals for Highland, Elijah Good added 12 points and nine rebounds, Zach Armstrong had eight points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals and Preston Jaccard had five steals.

Jackson Winslow led VSDB with 12 points.

On Saturday, Highland led 33-20 at the halftime break and 52-34 after three quarters.

Armstrong scored 31 points, 17 in the opening quarter, grabbed 11 rebounds and had six assists, while Hull and Good also had double-doubles. Hull totaled 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Good coupled 13 boards with 11 points.

Marshall Carder scored 25 points for the Pirates, Nathan Dick had 16 and Braylen Paul had 11.
