MONTEREY — Highland’s volleyball team got back in the win column at home Monday night.
Colleen Adams put together 14 assists, 14 digs, 10 kills and eight aces, leading the Rams to a four-set, 25-18, 25-16, 18-25, 25-17 win over Richwood, W.Va.
Emma Brower had 10 aces and four kills for the winners, Brooklyn Bussard had 12 assists, Jade Hotz had nine digs and Ava Summers and Virginia Richardson added seven digs each. Sarah Liller paired four aces with three kills.
“I’m so proud of the way the girls played tonight,” said Ram coach Beth McGuire. “We lost a couple of players during the game, so I had some girls playing positions they don’t normally play and they made it look seamless.”
Last Thursday, Parry McCluer beat the visiting Rams in Buena Vista, 25-17, 25-15, 25-16.
Adams led Highland with eight digs, seven assists, four aces and three kills.
Richardson had nine digs, Brower added four kills and Bussard had three kills.
The Rams (0-2 Pioneer District, 4-3 overall) are at home on Friday night against the Union Educational Complex.
The HHS junior varsity team picked up a pair of two-set wins, downing Parry McCluer, 25-12, 25-12, and Richwood, 25-12, 25-16
Makynley Smith served eight aces against the Blues, Brooke Williams had four kills and Adelaide Baxter added three kills.
In the Richwood match, Hensley Neil served eight aces for the Rams and Amelia Good had five. Williams had four kills and Smith handed out six assists.
Highland’s junior varsity team is 3-1 on the season.
