MONTEREY — Beth McGuire was hoping an experienced roster would yield more favorable results this fall.

Through three matches, the Highland coach has seen her wishes play out on the volleyball court.

Monday, the Rams served 37 aces and moved to 3-0 on the season without losing a set, taking down Tygarts Valley, W.Va., 25-13, 25-5, 25-2.

Sarah Liller served 11 of the aces, Brooklyn Bussard added nine, Colleen Adams had seven and Virginia Richardson had six.

Emma Brower had four kills for the winners, Jade Hotz added two kills and Adams had five assists.

McGuire graded 35 Ram passes as “perfect.”

Bussard had 10 of those, Hotz added eight, Adams had seven and Richardson six.

“The girls really played well together tonight,” McGuire said. “I switched the line-up and although they started out a bit confused in the front row, they talked it out and clearly ended up dominating the court as a whole. Our serves were awesome and it showed in the 37 aces we had, and we had 20 pass-set-hits. Our passes and floor coverage are improving every day.”
