Highland Elementary School kindergarten and first grade classes rounded out their year studying jobs in the community. They took a field trip and toured Corsey Springs Fish Hatchery and Heatwole’s farm and dairy. Students also enjoyed a five-mile walk around Monterey to learn about our community workers. Both grades toured VDOT; Monterey Post Office; sheriff’s office; and Highland Medical Center. Kindergarten toured the Blue Grass Valley Bank while first grade toured Burke & Herbert Bank. Everyone enjoyed a picnic lunch at The Highland Center under the farmers market pavilion. Above, Claire Heatwole explains the operation of his dairy farm to Highland elementary students.
