STRASBURG — Brooke Williams won three events and scored 25½ points last Tuesday, leading the Highland middle schoolers in a five-team meet at Strasburg High School.
Williams, an eighth-grader, won the 100-meter dash and long jump, and added a win in the 400-meter dash, breaking her own school record with a time of 1:04.5.
“Brooke Williams had her best meet to date and that is saying something,” said Ram coach Colby Jackson. “She continues to break her own record in the 400-meter dash after setting it as a sixth grader. Her time of 64.5 would’ve gotten her into the top eight for the state finals in varsity last season. She’s a tremendous athlete with the work ethic to match.”
Williams joined Makynley Smith, Haven Wilfong and Amelia Good for a second-place finish in the 4×100-meter dash.
In boys’ competition, Kaden Neil and Abram Lockridge were Highland point scorers.
Neil was third in both the 400-meter dash and discus, while Lockridge was third in the 200-meter dash and fourth in the discus.
“I thought the middle school had a very good first track meet,” Jackson said. “It was unfortunate that we had so many (meets) get canceled this season because we had great performances that I would like to see develop. Overall, they performed well and enjoyed the meet.”
