MONTEREY — Highland scored 10 times in the home half of the first, beating Bath County in a five-inning junior varsity softball game here Monday, 14-3.
Peyton Neil had three hits and scored four runs for the winners, Sarah Liller, Kristina Neil, Amelia Good and Emma Brower added two hits each and both Colleen Adams and Makynley Smith had one.
Liller struck out nine in the circle.
Bailey Wolfe had two hits for Bath County and both Trinity Forbes and Kennedi Pritt had one each.
Charger pitcher Cassidee Nicely struck out two Rams.
Highland (8-2) is at home against Eastern Montgomery Tuesday, while Bath County (2-8) hosted Richwood, W.Va. on Tuesday and is at home against Pocahontas County, W.Va. on Friday.

Highland
The Rams lost on the road at Parry McCluer last Tuesday, 13-12.
The Blues pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Adams was 4-for-5 at the plate with three runs scored and four RBI for Highland.
Kristina Neil and Brower each had three hits, while Peyton Neil, Liller and Adelaide Baxter had two hits apiece.
Liller struck out 12 and walked three in the circle for the Rams.
Thursday’s scheduled home game against Craig County was canceled.
Ram Kristina Neil is safe as Charger Chloe Forbes fields at first base.
Bath County
Eastern Montgomery scored three times in the eighth, knocking off the Chargers in Hot Springs last Thursday, 8-5.
Alyssa Ingram had four hits, including a triple, for BCHS, while Nicely, Pritt and Makenna Randozzo all had two hits. Pritt had four RBI and Randozzo knocked in one.
Nicely pitched for Bath and struck out six.
The Chargers’ game last Friday at Narrows was postponed until Monday.
