FISHERSVILLE — The Rams made some noise here last Friday.
Nine different Highland athletes scored points and the junior varsity girls won the team title in the Augusta County Invitational at Wilson Memorial High School.
“I was very excited for the JV girls,” said Ram coach Colby Jackson. “They have not been able to compete very much this year and they had a great showing. They have worked hard and it paid off for them.”
Brooke Williams led the way with 24 points, that included a win in the long jump, a second in the 200 meters and a third in the 100 meters. Kristina Neil won the discus and placed third in the shot put, scoring 16 points.
Steven Rogers placed fourth in both the shot put and discus for the HHS JV boys.
In varsity competition, Elijah Good, Patton Hull, Zach Armstrong and Eli Moore teamed up for a third-place run in the 4×100-meter relay.
“Our boys’ 4×100 was finally healthy and they ran a good race,” Jackson offered. “We can clean up the handoffs and have a very competitive race by district. Overall, we are headed in the right direction and I am excited for all of the kids as we get ready for May.”
The Rams run at Richwood, W.Va., on Friday.
