MONTEREY — The Highland Rams won their junior varsity softball season opener here last Wednesday over Pocahontas County, 11-3.

The Rams sent 12 hitters to the plate in a seven-run, fifth inning to secure the victory.

Colleen Adams had three hits and a walk to lead the winners, reaching safely in all four of her plate appearances.

Addison Lockridge had two hits, including a homer, and both Peyton Neil and Ava Summers also had two hits.

Zalea Good, Sarah Liller, Kristina Neil and Eleanor White added one knock each.

Liller went the distance in the circle to record the win, giving up just four hits and striking out three.

Highland went to Richwood on Friday, but the game was postponed just before first pitch.
