MONTEREY — The girls from Highland had experienced a couple of wins already this year.

But both counted as JV victories.

Monday on their home court, the Rams notched a true varsity win.

They did it in runaway fashion.

Four different Rams scored in double figures and the team posted a season-high point total in a 50-13 rout of Harman, W.Va.

Colleen Adams narrowly missed a triple-double with 14 points, nine rebounds and nine steals to lead the winners, while Hannah Meyerhoeffer with 12 points and Annah Moyers and Jazmine Douglas with 10 each all had season-best scoring nights.

Meyerhoeffer added a dozen rebounds to record a double-double, Moyers had six assists and six steals, Douglas had five steals and Zalea Good had four assists.

Highland led 16-5 at the quarter and shut out the Panthers on the way to a 32-5 halftime advantage.

“For team morale, we need this win,” said HHS coach Cappy Jackson.

Haylee Ketterman topped Harman with two three-pointers for six points.

The Rams dropped a pair of Pioneer District games last week.

Highland fell at home to Parry McCluer last Thursday, 53-16, and were beaten at Narrows Saturday, 64-7.

The visiting Blues, unbeaten in the Pioneer, jumped out to a 31-1 lead after a quarter last Thursday.

Payton Emore had 20 points for Parry McCluer and Victoria Hamilton added 14.

Adams led the Rams with nine points, Moyers had four and Douglas scored three.

On Saturday, Narrows soared to an 18-0 lead after one and a 38-2 advantage by the half.

Karsyn Reed had 18 points for the Green Wave and Emma Helvey added 12.

Moyers led Highland with four points and Douglas scored three. Adams had four steals and three rebounds and both Meyerhoeffer and Douglas had three rebounds.

The Rams (0-5 Pioneer, 1-9 overall) hosted Richwood on Wednesday night before a pair of district home games — Friday against Eastern Montgomery and Monday against Craig County.
