MONTEREY — Highland’s girls’ basketball program has a varsity team but not a JV.

At Bath County, the Chargers are fielding a junior varsity team, but not a varsity.

The two rivals put their respective squads on the court here Friday night in a game that was classified in the JV department.

Colleen Adams had a big 10-point, 17-rebound double-double, leading the Rams to a 33-16 victory.

Highland led 4-3 at the quarter and 12-9 at the half, before outscoring the Chargers 9-2 in the third period.

Annah Moyers added eight points for the Rams, Zalea Good had seven, Addison Lockridge scored four and Hannah Meyerhoeffer and Jazmine Douglas had two each.

Douglas added nine boards for the winners, Good had seven and Meyerhoeffer pulled in five.

Trinity Forbes had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Chargers and Ryleigh Phillips scored four points and snared six boards. Macey Paxton and Sophie Ailstock had five rebounds apiece.

The Charger JVs (2-3) lost a matchup with Richwood, W.Va., last Thursday, 29-26.

Forbes had 13 points for Bath, Zoey Jenkins scored six, Phillips had five and Paxton scored two.

Bath County’s scheduled game against Pocahontas County on Tuesday was postponed.

The Chargers return to the court on Friday, Dec. 29, at home against Meadow Bridge, W.Va.

Highland was scheduled to return to varsity play on Monday against Richwood, but had that game postponed.

The Rams (0-3) host Union Educational Complex tonight.
