COVID-19 Emergency Food Program

Parents and Community members,

Highland County Public Schools will utilize the Seamless Summer option to provide bagged breakfast and lunches during the COVID-19 school closure. Meals will be available to all children age 1 - 18 regardless of income level. Meals will be distributed every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-6pm. The bags will contain breakfast and lunch for 5 days. This will run through the first week of June.

Meals will be able for pick up in a “drive through style”. DO NOT get out of your car until directed, nor come up to the school. To pick up the bagged food you will drive to the back of the school. You will pull around back and drive down to the cafeteria which is at the far end. PLEASE stay in your car until your food has been pushed to your car. At that point you will need to get out of the car, place the bags in your car, and continue to drive out the exit. This will be the pool exit. Please follow the signs. Also DO NOT come in from the pool driveway, this is only the exit. We will need to know which child/children you are picking up food for. You may pick up 5 days of food for each child.

If you have any questions, please email Dr. Schott at tschott@highland.k12.va.us

03/30/2020 UPDATE:

Student Item Pickup and Packet Distribution

Parents and Community members,
Highland County Public Schools will be allowing pickup of the student’s items that have been left in the elementary classrooms along with the items left in the middle and high school lockers. Beginning Tuesday, March 31st and April 1st we will be distributing student belongings from 3-6pm.
We will follow the same procedure as for the meal pickup. This will also be done in a “drive through style”. DO NOT get out of your car until directed, nor come up to the school. To pick up the Student items you will drive to the back of the school. You will pull around back and drive down to the elementary gym. PLEASE stay in your car. Someone will come out; ask what child you are there to pick up items for. They will go into the gym to retrieve the items. They will push the items out to you on a cart. At that point you will need to get out of the car, place the bags in your car, and continue to drive out the exit, or down to the cafeteria for meal pick up. The exit will be the same. Please follow the signs. Also DO NOT come in from the pool driveway, this is only the exit. Next week's packets have been placed in the students’ bags.

I would like to thank you for the support you are giving your children. Teachers are putting items online, talking to your children through google, and supplying packets as needed. But you are the adult that will make this type of education work. If you would like any feedback on the items from the packet, please take a picture of the item and email it to their teacher.
