RICHWOOD, W.Va. — Freshman Brooke Williams won two individual events and added a leg on the winning 4×100-meter relay team, leading the Highland girls to a second-place finish in the Timber Invitational Friday at Richwood High School.

Williams set the HHS school record in the 400 meters with a winning time of 1:01.97, won the 100 meters (13.42), and joined Colleen Adams, Adelaide Baxter and Amelia Good to win the 4×100 with a time of 54.43.

Williams also added a second-place finish in the long jump, just half an inch behind the winner.

The Highland boys placed fifth in the 10-team field.

Zach Armstrong won the 400 meters (56.58) for the Rams and placed third in the 100 meters, Luke Baxter was third in the 1,600, and Elijah Good, Baxter, Owen Honaker and Armstrong were third in the 4×100 relay.

Highland will run Saturday at the Rocktown Raptors Invitational at Rocktown High School in Harrisonburg.
