What is Title I?
A federally funded program that provides extra help in reading (K-5) and math (K-8) including:
- · Phonemetic Awareness
- · Phonics
- · Vocabulary
- · Comprehension
- · Fluency
- · Writing
- · Basic Facts
- · Number and Number Sense
- · Computation and Estimation
- · Measurement
- · Geometry
- · Probability and Statistics
- · Patterns, Functions, and Algebra
Title I eligibility is based on a student’s:
- · Classroom performance
- · Teacher recommendation
- · PALS results
- · SOL reading and math test results
Title I money is spent on:
- · Reading Specialist
- · Math Paraprofessionals
- · Reading Level-books
- · Math Manipulatives
Title I Goals:
- · For 100% of our students to meet the Benchmark or higher on PALS
- · For 100% of our students to be reading on grade level when they exit second grade
- · For 100% of our grade 3-5 students to pass their reading SOL test
- · For 100% of our grade 3-8 students to pass their math SOL test
- · To instill a love for reading
- · To develop life-long learners
Parental Involvement:
- · Read the Parental Involvement Policy
- · Read and complete the School Compact
- · Read daily with your child
- · Communicate regularly with your child’s teacher
- · Make sure your child is at school unless they are sick
