Teaching for the Future, Honoring the Past

Teaching for the Future, Honoring the Past

    Dear Parents and Students,

Hello! My name is Dr. Thomas Schott. I want to welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year. I know this year will be amazing. We start off the year with great news, that is, Highland County Public Schools, both the high school and the elementary school are fully accredited. It has taken a lot of hard work from the teachers, students, and parents over the last year to reach this goal.
This summer we have continued to move the school system forward by hiring a new math teacher, launching a new web page, along with updating one of our computer labs. The physical appearance of the building also has had some updates: new doors in the elementary school, a new side walk to the high school, with a beautiful Ram carving in the side walk.
As I begin my third year in Highland my enthusiasm about education continues to grow. I believe that students will learn with the support of educators, parents and the community. My philosophy on education has remained the same for the past 18 years. That is if you keep education “fun and focused” the students will learn.
I am excited and honored to continue to lead the school system forward as the Superintendent. I look forward to working with you to create the best educational program possible. As a school system we will “Teach for the future, while honoring the past”.
