Mrs. Caroline Botkin

Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Caroline Botkin

My name is Caroline Jean Benson Botkin and I am in the position of Librarian at Highland Elementary School and Highland High School. I am in the elementary school on Tuesday's, Wednesday's, and Thursday's and in the high school on Monday's and Friday's.

I was born and raised in Seaford, Delaware and graduated from Seaford High School in 1980.  I then attended JMU for 4 years and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education.  I started teaching 4th Grade at Highland Elementary in August 1984, and then taught P.E. for 2 years.  In 1987, I returned to the 4th grade where I stayed for 20 more years.  In 2007, I moved to 1st Grade and stayed for 10 years.  This is my 34th year in Highland and I am trying something new again and looking forward to it.

In June of 1985, I married a native Highlander, Ronnie Botkin, and we had 4 children--Elizabeth, Ben, Emily, and Ethan.  They all attended Highland County Public Schools and we have been involved with their activities over the years--coaching and coordinating T-Ball, coaching Little League softball and helping with the program, helping coach high school basketball and softball, and running the Athletic Boosters for many years. They also participated in FFA and we have helped with these events.

Emily now has 2 daugher's and our grandgirls are a delight to spend time with, which we do as often as possible.  Some of our favorite times are when all the children are home.

I love to read and spend time with family and friends.

Life has been an adventure so far and I have enjoyed the ride (through the good and not so good).  Highland is a wonderful community to raise a family and we love living here.
