Highland County is a community of approximately 3,000 members who value education and an ecologically balanced environment. Our schools are fully accredited by the Virginia Standards of Learning, and our students are academically competitive.

Called "Virginia's Little Switzerland" and "The Trout Capital of the Eastern United States", Highland County boasts the highest mean elevation of any county east of the Mississippi River, clean air, pure water, and spectacular scenery. No longer Virginia's best kept mountain secret, Highland attracts thousands of visitors a year to its fairs, trails, and festivals.

Because of our size, location, pristine environment, natural beauty, and high academic standards, we are a truly "unique" school community. We invite you to visit and experience our attributes first hand. Highland County welcomes you!
